Weil Gespannfahren viel mehr ist als nur "Hü"

The Lipizzaner Stud Piber is not only dedicated to the breeding of Lipizzaners, but also offers driving courses several times a year for all those interested, regardless of whether they have experience or not. Is there a more beautiful place than the Lipizzaner Stud Piber to learn the game of driving? 

State-certified driving instructors are at your side throughout the course and teach beginners as well as experienced people how to drive a one- or two-horse team - in theory and in practice. Previous experience in working with horses is welcome, but not a prerequisite for taking part in a course.

  • Bronze driving badge

The bronze driving badge

The examination to obtain the ÖFAB(Austrian bronze driving badge) consists of the following partial examinations:

Practical test:

  • Correct harnessing and tacking up
  • Measuring the lines according to the regulations (taking up the lines)
  • Correct mounting and dismounting
  • Presentation and control of a two-in-hand horse at walk and trot with
  • Correct line and whip control straight ahead and in turns;
  • Behaviour with a carriage and pair in road traffic in accordance with traffic regulations

Theoretical examination:

  • Handling the horse
  • Horsemanship
  • Horse husbandry and feeding
  • Diseases of horses
  • Harness and carriage knowledge and driving theory

The examination is conducted by a judge and an assessor.
